inhumane treatment

I have contacted the hospital on numerous occasions which I have been referred to the head nurse / matron for my concerns / complaints. My mom fell on Friday, upon which she was admitted to the hospital. On Saturday we were contacted by her doctors to explain to us what the procedure will be with regards to the process leading up to the operation for her broken hip.

However, the night staff has been extremely rude. They close the door in my mom’s room, and they don’t check in on her. I’ve addressed this with them only for them to treat be rude to her because of my complaints. Day staff : I had to phone the hospital / ward 3 times yesterday to ask them to please go help my mother. She was crying from pain. Then she needed the bedpan and could not get hold of anyone as the door has once again been closed. She is left on her own to wash herself, how? As she has a broken hip, she can hardly move! Once again, this morning she needed the bedpan – door closed, no one helping. When they eventually assisted her, she was told to wipe herself. This is unacceptable!! So, she does not get washed properly nor does she get wiped as she needs to do this herself?

We are still waiting on the heart sonar to be done, we still have no answers on when (an ETA) of when this operation will take place. Her leg is in a constant side position, and it needs to be straight? She is old, she is 75 – surely you do prioritise people of this age?

I understand we are in a vulnerable position, and we are reliant on the help of the staff / nurses – but to be treated like this? How is that acceptable and human???
