Maladministration unfairness and negligence

Good day. I'm a resident here in the Talisman foundation rehabilitation centre. For the past years things havs been fine until we had Val Cook as manager.She is unfair and ****** in her behaviour. She treays staff as if they are illiterate. Since the outbreak of covid 19 rules have been amended. We were put unfer complete lockdown which was understandable as we did not want to be at risk .Some of the residsnt's family members passed on and they were not allowed to go to pay their last respect.Some were allowed to go to funerals since they were escorted by a staff member. Now lately Cecil Kagan the chairman of the board 's father passed away. His son Kallan was allowed to sleep over at his house. Our families are not allowed to take us out. We were irraye about this.Kallan is an irresponsible chap who has to be constantly have to be reminded to wear a mask. This happened on a sunday and those who saw him leave say he had no mask on.We had to wait for Monday to confront Val about this.On monday a few of us called a meeting with her and she said she spoke to the department of health and she is still gonna speak to them about way forward. This is a lie because no one at the department works on a sunday.She said put yourselves in my shoes. Kallan brings drugs on the property. One of the rules wzs we are not allowed to have cash in our hands. For Kallan that rule does no apply .He was spotted with a R200 note saying he got it from his dad he asked for it for drugs.Kallan has been evicted before and was given a second chance.Now Cecil Kagan thinks he own the place.On his second return he sniffed cocaine in front of Val and nothing was done.It is said that bis dad Cecil helps a lot but the place has been in existence and running smoothly before he came to talisman.She said Kallan is fully vaccinated but we all are .Since that meeting gates were opened for us.Now we have to be told the budget is low.We don't even have chemicals to clean now that they were cut from the budget. This is a commune and we can get bacteria or infections apart from covid. Our families don't know how we ate treated here because if you try to stand up for yourself they write a **** report to hospital saying you have relapsed. Before covid we used to have meeting on Mondays at 2pm so the staff can address some of the concerns that has risen. One resident spoke about an elderly lady Marylin Fegen who was fighting for her life in hospital due to being ***ually violated by two men far younger than her. They also made her clean their room.The two men chased his roommate out of the room threatening to beat him up.This carried on for years and nothing was done.The resident that spoke about it was said to have relapsed and has to see the doctor.During the meeting senior facilitator Mbali Nyathi claimed not to know anything about it. The meeting adjourned and she had to give report to Val. They called her and she said she will speak to them only in the presence of the police but they never called the cops. The resident was booked to see thr doctor a week later.She says the doctor was hostile towards her.Val got some of the residents to write testimonials saying the resident in question was making noise.The doctor said to her why is this any of your business. She was shocked by his hostility. Dr Brummerhoff who is a consultant at the centre saif he is changing her medication. She is on 25mg olanzepine and 10mg of oxazepam.He substituted oxazepam with 4mg of rivotril.The resident then asked bim to write a note to Dorcas Moyo who was on call duty that week which he did.As she was leavi g the doctor 's room he said if i hear you were making noise about this I'm going to give you strong medication.Msr

Marylin was in and out of hospital. Her son Mark and brother Roy visited her regularly. Mark hired a private nurse for his mother as talisman has no frail care certification. Val came on weekends and just told the family they sre doing everything they can.She pretended to care when every one knows she is Margaret Thatcher. If wèe dont let our families awate now we might end up with a similar case to what happened at Life Esidimeni. This happened on a Wednesday and when she finally got to the medical suite she produced the note to Dorcas who squashed it and said she won't listen to any doctor and you are going to take your usual plus rivotril.She didn't think of the effect it will have on her. It was an overdose she didn't wake-up Thursday and Friday and nothing was done .She was left to die.But by God's grace she made it.Val has never cared about black residents. On two occasions a resident came to her for help saying she was not feeling well but she said she was busy.Not even a minute passed a white resident came and asked if she is busy she said no she is not. Another black resident was turned away. The 2 residents were being attacked by diabetes and they wete fading.One was a Lesotho national and she asked her sister to come and take her to hospital whereas the rehab 's van was available. The other resident 's facilitator fought for him to be taken to hospital in the centre 's car. She is of age and she doesn't know anything clinical.
