Be wary of Talbot Transport as they force companies who require truck rental to pay rental truck deposit in acces of R100k prior to viewing and later tell them the trucks are not readily available to view

Our family business has interacted with Talbot Transport more specifically Brian as we were looking to hire x2 trucks of which we were informed that to start the process we would have to send through company documents for verification of which we did and he informed us that they have trucks available as well as 34 tons side tippers. Brian later sent through the contract for us to sign and informed us that it is part of the process of screening before the viewing of the trucks. After we signed the contract he said we must pay R120 000 upfront before we view the trucks. We informed him that we were not comfortable to transfer the money until we do the inspections of the trucks to ensure that they are up to the standard that we want. He then insisted on the R120 000 deposit of which we still indicated that we were comfortable first to view the trucks. He then changed his statement to say they do not have trucks standing around as their trucks run ad hoc work and they want an upfront payment of R120 000 and they will make us have a meet and greet with his transport manager. We informed him that we were not comfortable and were cautious as we were recently ****med by companies who posed as truck rentals who demanded upfront payment prior to viewing. We also informed him that we checked his company reviews on google search engine of which they were worrisome and similar to the companies that de*****ed us and he then told us that he will sue our family business even though we showed him proof of the *****. He has threatened us of a defamation and lawsuit of R342 000 and immediately discredited our company on Hellopeter even though we gave him grounds for our discomfort. Moreover, no trucks were delivered to us as he explicitly informed us after we told him we preferred to view the trucks prior to payment. He comes across as a bully of note and strongly recommend people to be cautious when interacting with Talbot Transport as they force people to pay deposit before viewing their trucks of which they are not even available to begin with
