Terrible sushi and lacklustre service

Perhaps others have had a good experience at Taishan Kitchen in Kloof Street, but mine was awful. If the food’s no good, then atmosphere and service be damned.

The soy sauce — both the regular and the supposedly “less salt” version — was, ironically, as salty as seawater. I couldn’t eat either, and without any soy sauce the sushi itself was bland and flavourless.

When I asked the waiter if they had something better because the soy sauce was so salty, he rep**** — and I quote — “No, and I know.” No apology, no effort to help, and he clearly didn’t care.

I feel like I was ****** in broad daylight and wish I could get my money back. Sushi is my favourite food, and this was an insult to it.
