Death of a Pet

<p>On 06/09/2016 ,at 01:45 ,my dog,****** ,a Pibull, cross Golden Retriever woke me up by licking me and when I touched his cheek to move him away he yelped. I did not sleep the rest of the morning until I had to go to work at 06:00. I woke my wife and told her the dog is not well and she must take him to Tableview animal hospital at 67 Blaauberg road. She took him there and waited until they opened at 08:00. She informed them that he was suffering from an ongoing ear infection, which we treated every day, but that his head was constantly twitching to the right side and his eye was swollen.He was there on a previous occasion for his ears ,for which they gave us an ointment to put in his ears, which we did,but he did not like it.We knew there was something major wrong with him ,yet they only sedated him and rinsed his ears and gave medication which cost me over R 2700.My wife informed them when she took him that he was a bit vicious to unknown people especially when he was sick, yet they did not refuse to accept him as a patient, nor did they put a muzzle on his mouth.He was sedated and his ear(s) were rinsed .At about 11 they called my wife to come fetch him as they put it ,he was violent and he aggressive . My wife wen there and put him in his harness and leash and started to leave. As she left ,the vet walked in front of her and the dog bit her in slow motion as he was drugged from the aneasthetics and she rep**** it was nothing and she is ok.My wife then left to fetch her handbag at work to go and pay. When she got back, she was confronted by 3 people working there ,as to why we bred such a vicious dog. She said he is a loving dog and loves kids and sleeps in the house and he was only aggresive because he was sick.She paid the account of R 2786.00 and they said he can never come ,as he is aggressive and bit the vet.They then informed my wife that they will never consult with him again as he was vicious. I called 3 times in the evening of 06/09 to apologise for his behaviour ,but the vet(Joubert) never called back. When I arrived home I saw he looked worse than in the morning and called the vet but she never returned my call. On the morning of 07/09 ,as I left for work at 06:00 I noticed ****** was worse than the previous day. I told my wife she must take him to another vet or SPCA as we were refused to take him to TABLE VIEW ANIMAL HOSPITAL. I called Table View Animal hospital twice on this morning and they refused twice to accept my dog as patient ,because he bit the vet and was according to them aggressive.I pleaded but they refused. I called the SPCa and they said they would need a referral letter from them which I confirmed with the Tableview Animal hospital I can collect before taking him there.At 11:00 my wife called in tears that he was very sick now. I called Vet -clin also in Blaauberg rd, explained everything to them everything and they had no problem seeing our dog. However ,they put him down due to a virus on the brain. My wife and I are heartbroken!!!!!!!!!!! Is it fair for a vet to refuse to treat an animal in pain,or do they just take the money? They never even investigated his illness or took a blood sample or anything, were just happy to charge R2786.00 for an ear rinse AND OUR LOVEABLE PET IS DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!! I asked for the referral letter at Vet-clin ,but they said they only got his medical history from Tableview animal hospital.After he was euthaised I went to Tableview animal hospital for a copy of the referral letter,upon which they said they sent it to Vet-clin.I went back to Vet-clin and they said they only got his medical records and are not allowed to share it with me.I went back to Tableview animal hospital and asked for the referral leter ,but they refused as they said it was confidential. I left disgusted and before I walked out asked the lady at reception if they refused to help ****** and she rep**** yes-</p> <p> </p>
