My POOR Experience with Sygnia Group
I am sharing my experience so that other customers, particularly foreign nationals, can be aware of the difficulties I have experienced with Sygnia.
I have been trying to access funds that are legitimately owed to me, but my payment has been delayed because Sygnia has been unable to successfully process the required tax directive with SARS due to an issue with the way my government-issued identification details are being captured.
I have provided Sygnia with official documentation from SARS confirming that my identification details are correct. I have also contacted SARS directly and followed the steps I was advised to take.
What concerns me most is that Sygnia's own agents previously indicated that the problem was related to their system and its inability to accommodate the required identification format. However, Sygnia is now telling me that the problem is entirely with SARS and that there is nothing further they can do.
I have contacted Sygnia numerous times and have received inconsistent explanations. I was allegedly told that the submission had been attempted approximately 13 times, yet the underlying issue was not properly explained to me until much later.
I have also escalated this internally and even copied the CEO into my correspondence, hoping that this would finally result in someone taking ownership of the matter. Unfortunately, I am still receiving the same response telling me to go back to SARS.
I have repeatedly asked Sygnia to address the actual technical issue and explain why their system cannot accommodate a legitimate government-issued identification document. Instead, my other concerns and questions have largely gone unanswered.
As a foreign national, I have to be honest that the way I have been treated throughout this process has started to feel rather xenophobic. I appreciate that technical issues can happen, but when a legitimate government-issued identification document cannot be accommodated, the customer is repeatedly redirected elsewhere, and reasonable questions are left unanswered, it becomes difficult not to question whether foreign customers are being adequately accommodated by the organisation's processes.
I understand that Sygnia may have successfully assisted other foreign nationals, but that does not change the fact that I have not received the assistance I need. Not every foreign national is issued the same type of identification document, and systems should reasonably be able to accommodate legitimate government-issued identification.
I am not posting this review because I expect special treatment. I simply expect a large financial services company to take ownership of a technical issue, communicate honestly and consistently, and provide a practical solution when a customer has supp**** all the required documentation.
I hope Sygnia sees this review and finally escalates the matter to someone who can actually resolve it.
At this stage, my experience has been extremely frustrating, and I would encourage anyone dealing with Sygnia to carefully consider how identification and tax directive issues involving foreign nationals are handled before proceeding.
