Jimny pollen filter

I bought a Suzuki Jimny January 2016. Yesterday on my 45000km service they asked me to replace the pollen filter(aircon cabin filter) for R800. I told them no thank you. When I decided to inspect the filter myself there wasn't one in the slot. The dealer explained to me that the Jimny doesn't come with a pollen filter when you buy it. It is an optional extra. Suzuki didn't give me this option when the car was still new. Only by the 3rd service I've come to learn about this. I am shocked that they sell you a car without all the filters installed. The Jimny is a 4x4 vehicle that will obviously spend some time in the dust and dirt. Why not include this filter? At R800 a filter how much money does Suzuki make from their unsuspecting clients? And why wait until our cars are covered in dust before we get the option to install this filter in our vehicles? I find this absurd and totally unacceptable.
