How taking a car to Suzuki Kenilworth resulted in it being ****** and involved in an accident
A tale about how taking my moms car to Suzuki KENILWORTH resulted in it being ****** and involved in an accident....
After 3 months of the car giving her trouble and them telling her there's nothing wrong with it and she didn't know how to drive her car (which she's had for 4 years) it finally became unfit to drive on Tuesday 11 December. On Wednesday 12 December I went to Suzuki Kenilworth and fetched a mechanic to come and fetch the car so that he could drive it and see for himself that there was a problem. Over the next two days they admitted there was a problem but they didn't know what it is and every time my mom phoned (a frustration in itself because no one ever knows what's going on or gets back to you) we decided to go through on Friday 14 December at 11:00 for an update.
When we got there, the car was just chilling outside the workshop (no one was working on it like we had been told they were an hour prior to this). After lots of back and forth and the workshop manager Brian refusing to have a proper conversation with us, it came out that the car needed to go to Rex Diff Sa for them to look into the gear box and they needed permission from my mom to take it there.
It was agreed the car would stay at Suzuki Kenilworth for the long weekend and that they would park it safely in the workshop (this was reiterated at least five times!) and that the driver would take it through to Rex Diff Gearbox on TUESDAY morning (with Monday being a public holiday).
So imagine my moms surprise when she gets a call on Monday 17 December from Mufuleni police that her ****** car has been recovered in Blue Downes and involved in an accident?! The same car that's meant to be safely parked in the Suzuki Kenilworth workshop.
The guy driving the car even had the keys! He was unlicensed and wouldn't tell the cops his name. We assumed it had been ****** from the workshop, but we were in for yet another surprise!
Being a public holiday, the dealership was closed but we were able to get hold of the dealership principal and a meeting was set up for Tuesday 17 December 8am.
In the meeting it came out that they had taken it upon themselves to take the car to Rex Diff on Friday 14 December, something my mom had definitely not agreed to as we didn't think it would be safe there over the weekend. And then the Rex Diff security guard had ****** the car on Sunday and taken it home for a joyride! And then crashed it on Monday. So the gearbox will now be well and truely stuffed, and now there's body damage too! It was also discussed Suzuki Kenilworth were to arrange a hire car for my mom and arrange to get the car towed from the police station to Dals so we could assess the damage. None of this had happened over 24 hours later, and it is now Thursday 20 December and the car is still sitting at Mufuleni police station.
The general attitude of Suzuki Kenilworth throughout all of this (even before the weekends events) has been absolutely shocking. They show no interest in sorting out anything and are always trying to pass the buck to the next person or blame someone else. No one ever knows what's going on or gets back to you. They need to take responsibility and be held accountable for this massive mess up on their part. In my opinion they owe my mom the hugest apology and a new car. And what an inconvenience having this all happen right before Christmas. If they did their job properly the car should have been fixed in October after its third trip to the workshop.
