A tale of Two Suzuki dealerships
This rating is open to change as my intent is to share an experience rather than a rating. I am a Suzuki cheerleader (the cars, so far not of the Suzuki SA dealership) with a good understanding of the new and used car industry - including that car traders must make a living and have to do this by all sorts of add-ons and "hidden" costs.
In a way this results in false advertising by the brand (as with most automotive brands) - We will see a new model launched in our market with huge billboards advertising the price as "from" R***x and the installment as "from" R***
What the need and or the insult to the intelligence of the consumer is, to advertise any high-end product, with the disclaimer "from" remains a mystery. There is never a from price. The, driving- a- car- out- of- the showroom- price It is ALWAYS much higher as is the installment (Remember vehicle financers also have to get a cut ne) Now for the experience I want to share with Suzuki Auto South Africa - its a tale of two dealerships and my vastly different experience with both. (Ps neither could supply the model I want to purchase at the advertised price, as the advertised price is calculated but not disclosed, based on the payment of a massive deposit).
I want to purchase the new Suzuki Spresso (Advertised "from" R135K with a "from" installment R1850p/m))
Suzuki Menlyn: Salesman was polite, fairly uninterested in any negotiations, and offered me the Spresso model I want to purchase at R146K, installment R2700 unless I could secure him a much larger deposit. The assessor was completely disinterested, took 5min and offered me R50k trade-in on my Suzuki Alto, never even made eye contact with me the client, he was very busy, I think he found assisting me annoying. The whole thing (purchasing a car of a R140****!, a massive thing for most South Africans) took 7min, I wasn't the deal they were looking for and I have never heard from them again.
Suzuki Hatfield: Sales person, floor manager, assessor extremely welcoming, friendly, honest and still trying to work out a deal that will work for both parties. They offered me a R57k trade-in, have done follow-up client service.
I wonder if Suzuki South Africa would be aware and or approve of such a different client service experience within a radius of 15km of each other.
After Suzuki Menlyn, I considered not supporting the Suzuki brand anymore which included actively trying to be a brand ambassador amongst friends, family and colleagues.
Hoping and looking forward to remain with the group and recommending Suzuki Hatfield as a dealership. Menlyn, not so much.
