SHF corroding segment coffee table
Hello Peter
I have had a back and forth with KZN SHF regarding a faulty product. I bought a segment coffee table (which took six months to be delivered to me). Within the short period I have had it, the paint started chipping off due to corroding metal work. The table was collected from my place of residence in April, no communication was provided unless I reach out and despite my effort the matter remains unresolved. It is frustrating and infuriating that I am being invoiced for a factory fault and lack of quality control from SHF. The service I have received is subpar and SHF insists that I pay all repair and delivery costs for a poor product (that I paid lots of money for) which is probably still corroding in their workshop as the table has not yet been repaired and returned. Good Day SHF
It's great to finally hear from you. The invoice reflects incorrect information: 1. The invoice was never sent to me prior to today, which rendered the 10 May 2022 outlined on the invoice incorrect. Why is the invoice backdated? 2. It was not the glass that I was repairing, it was the corroded base. The glass was in perfect condition when picked up by the two gentlemen. I even suggested that they leave the glass behind, but they insisted that the entire set be collected. If it broke, it must've done so in transit (I have images to show that the glass was intact prior to collection).
Please see an email I sent to the team below. Customer service has not even responded.
Dear SHF
Thanks for finally getting back me.
The real issue with the table, in case you did not notice/inspect it properly, was that the table was corroded, the paint was chipping off. I highly suspect the gold paint was app**** on an untreated surface, thus causing the paint to fall off, as the smaller portion of the table is in good condition. With that being said, it is unjust that I am invoiced for what appears to be a SHF factory fault (not ensuring that surfaces are treated prior to applying final finish). I highly suggest SHF relooks at this matter with a keen and professional eye and furnishes the correct information on the invoice. I will not be paying for something that was not my doing, nor will I pay for the delivery thereof-the delivery to the new address ought to be covered by yourselves as the delay was (still is) on your end. If the table were constructed with care from the onset, it would never have been returned and that should not be placed on me, the customer. As previously mentioned on numerous occasions, I tried to resolve this matter when I was still in Hilton but the process was delayed by SHF's unresponsive nature and lack of customer care. The only time anything moved was due to my initiative and constant, unrelenting follow-up. Might I add that this table took more than 6 months to be delivered to my house when I initially purchased it (ordered in January 2020 and arrived in July 2020). It was in my possession for only 21 months prior to being returned for the fault. SHF has had this table for a total of 8 months and counting. Paying R9000 for a table only for it to corrode in a short period of time cannot be part of your brand, and blaming the customer for such a flaw is completely inequitable. As one of your customers, I must say that I am highly disgruntled by the service I have received; 1. around the initial delivery of this table in 2020; and 2. the manner in which the repair to your fault has been handled. I request that my issues raised be addressed and the matter be handled appropriately.
I have high expectations that this matter will be treated fairly and that SHF will respond timeously.
