Confirm fees in writing!

<p>Susan B Cohen Attorneys handled the registration of our second bond.</p> <p> </p> <p>The attorney assisting us with the signing of all necessary papers verbally advised us their fees for this will be R5,300. She also advised we can either pay this upfront or they will deduct from the bond amount to be paid over to us.</p> <p>She also confirmed she will request a small discount and advise if this is possible.</p> <p> </p> <p>She did not come back in any instance.</p> <p> </p> <p>After the second bond amount was paid over to us, I requested an account statement. To my surprise their account totalled to around R8,800.</p> <p> </p> <p>After various emails, she insisted that I have received the statement prior to the registration process (which we have not seen until after payment was made) and they are entitled to the additional money. </p> <p> </p> <p>After various calls and emails, I advised her that I am willing to accept and move on if they are willing to help with a charity event I am involved with.</p> <p> </p> <p>Susan B Cohen Attorneys once again returned and said they are entitled to the additional money and will not support the charity event.</p> <p> </p> <p>It is disappointing that companies of this stature abuses their authority. I guess possession (of their client's money) is 90% of the law...</p>
