Superdry refuses to honour return policy

My sister purchased a shirt for me from the Superdry store in Menlyn in Pretoria as a Christmas gift. I then washed the shirt. I tried the shirt on and it was too small and I took it back to the store for a refund. The first thing they asked was if I had washed the shirt. I said yes. They then said they could not accept it because I had washed it.

The problem is that their refund policy does not state that you void your return if you wash the clothing. It just states that you need to return it in original condition, and it was returned in original condition.

Now, let's say for argument sake that because it went through the wash once, its condition was changed so that they could not resell it, what does that say about the quality of their clothing? And if the item was still in it's original condition, what does that say about their customer service when they refuse to honour their own return policy?

Also, they never told us that washing the item would void the return, if they had told us, I never would have washed it without trying it on first.

I will never buy a superdry product again.
