I was in a vehicle accident at the end of March 2016. My insurance wanted to wright off my vehicle, and after a lot of discussions, we settled the outstanding amount on the finance and bought the vehicle back from them.

Ricardo from Supercare Autobody CC / Invector Autobody (Pty) Ltd viewed the vehicle whist in the insurance yard and supp**** me with a quotation. I was told that dependent on the airbag supplier, the vehicle will take two weeks to be repaired.

I accepted his quotation no:85 dated 06/04/2016 and offered to pay a deposit, although the quotation did not request one. I paid R46 500 towards the quotation of R92 675.66 on 10/04/2016. My vehicle was delivered to their premises on 12/04/2016. On 19/04/2016 we received a call from their office requesting a further R25 000 as “the parts are very expensive”; this was paid to them the same day.

Over the weeks / months following the payment, both my husband and myself followed up with Ricardo on numerous occasions and the feedback was “he is waiting for parts”. When I finally had enough of his excuses on 27/06/2016, I requested the name of his supplier to follow up directly. He did not have the details available and said he will get back to me the morning of 28/06/2016. As expected, I heard nothing from him, and only after numerous phone calls, was given the contact details of Cargo Motors Chrysler Jeep Dodge. It took a few phone calls to them, but eventually a salesman Bazil confirmed that the parts were only ordered the week before, being the week starting 20/06/2016 – more than two months after my original payment.

I then contacted the owner of Supercare Autobody CC – George (Ricardo’s father) – and requested a meeting with him. He got back to me with a time and my husband and myself went to meet with him at 15:00 that afternoon. Ricardo was also present. They insisted that the parts were ordered in April, so I got them to make a phone call to the supplier on speaker phone, who confirmed what he told me – the order was only placed the week before and to that neither George nor Ricardo had any evidence to the contrary.

George then proceeded to inform me that they had to shop around for secondary parts which took time – no mention of secondary parts made in my quotation (see attached). When I asked him where it was specified that they will be using secondary parts, George simply said that “unfortunately it was not specified on the quotation”. We requested to view the secondary parts and a headlight was shown to us which seemed to be in good condition and we left the matter there.

George further stated that once he receives my bumper, the vehicle will be ready the following day. I followed up with the supplier directly and was told that the bumper was delivered to Supercare Autobody CC / Invector Autobody (Pty) Ltd on Thursday 07/07/2016. My husband then received an sms on Friday 08/07/2016, stating that the vehicle will be ready for collection on Monday 11/07/2016.

Following the information supp****, I called George at 09:37 this morning to find out what time I can collect my vehicle. He informed me that the vehicle has gone to have the aircon re-connected and then only needs to be washed and polished. He said that he will get back to me by 11:00 with a time. At 10:10 I received a strange call from George saying that he believes I am on my way to collect my vehicle, to which I responded that I am awaiting his feedback with a time before I go to their premises. He then said that he will advise me by 12:00.

After having no feedback from George, I phoned him at 12:29; no surprise he did not answer. I phoned his office and insisted on holding for him. 10 Minutes later, he took my call…

I was then informed that there is unforeseen damage to the slipring of the steering column and therefore there is a delay. He said that Ricardo has gone to collect a second hand one and that he is pushing to have my vehicle ready today still. I then asked him by what time he will be able to get back to me with confirmation, as I need to arrange a lift to his premises – to this question he absolutely flipped. I was called a crazy lady as he cannot give me a time; his shouting was so loud, that my colleague sitting behind me could hear him performing.

At 13:38 I phoned their offices on the landline to question the importance of the slipring to establish if a second hand one is acceptable. Ricardo took my call and confirmed that he collected the part already and that it was in the process of being fitted to my vehicle.

Now 16:08, I am still anxiously waiting for their call on whether or not I will be getting my vehicle back and when. Tomorrow will be exactly three months since my vehicle was delivered to their premises. According to the supplier, no parts takes longer than 3 weeks to source. I certainly do not which this anguish on anyone else and therefore would like to have the public made aware of this matter.
