Vehicle damaged while in custody of Supa Quick Ruimsig (VW Golf 7 GTI)
On 11 September 2025 I booked my VW Golf 7 GTI at Supa Quick Ruimsig for a front wheel bearing replacement (part supp**** by me).
After their technician test drove my car, the engine developed a tapping/knocking sound which was not there before. On collection, my battery was completely flat and I had to jump-start the vehicle, even though it was 100% functional just minutes earlier. I returned the next day and SupaQuick staff confirmed the noise was coming from the engine. Despite this, the branch has denied all liability, made false claims that my oil was low, and refused to arrange towing or proper inspection. I am now left car-less and incurring high transport costs Uber and taxis. This is unacceptable. Under the Consumer Protection Act, service providers must exercise proper care. My car was damaged while in their custody. Supa Quick Ruimsig has shown no accountability and instead shifted blame. I have escalated this case to:
Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa (MIOSA) National Consumer Commission (NCC) Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI) Bridgestone SA / SupaQuick Head Office Consumers deserve to know the risks. I will also be sharing updates on social media and other platforms until this matter is resolved.
