Great Jewellery Valuation Review

Towards the end of 2023 I went to Sunsonite Jewellery Boutique and met with Morné for a ring evaluation.

I needed to know how much it weighed to start with, in order to know the approximate value, given the gold price varies on a daily basis.

To my surprise it weighed 14.3 grams which is not what I was told it weighed by the jeweller who designed and made it for me back in +- 2006, in KZN. It was supposed to be 16.5 grams.

This goes to show that she was probably looking for more money out of me. I am glad I did not pay her any more than the quoted amount.

Morné said he can gladly calculate the current gold price with his handy app, which was quick and easy.

Added to this he said he could have the gold tested via X-ray which would give him an exact quality of the gold allowing for the most accurate quote according to the Karat value.

There is a 5% fee for the x-ray certificate given the final quality which seems fare for the effort it takes to have it tested.

All in all I learnt a great deal from this experience which has me thinking what else can I get valued.

What I do like about Morné is that he is happy to entertain other quotes from Gold Buyers which allows for a competitive quote.
