Safety Concerns

My son attended Sunningdale Private School for 3 months in 2020. When I would arrive in the morning to drop him off at school (Gr 1), there were no teachers on duty. I was not comfortable leaving my son where there was no supervision and no division between age groups - Matrics were socialising in the same area as the age 1’s. After a few mornings, I was approached by a teacher passing by and told that I may not stay in the mornings, I must drop and go. I asked why, and was told it was a “safety issue”. I then told them the safety issue was no teacher was on duty, she then informed me there is always teachers on duty. I asked her to please point out a teacher to me, she couldn’t find one and brushed it off saying they’ve probably gone to the toilet. I would only leave once the bell had rung and I could see my sons teacher. Many mornings the teacher was not there, even by the time the Gr 1 learners were lead into class by another teacher. They were then left unsupervised in the classroom. I reported to the office on numerous occasions that the teacher was not in the class, not once was the secretary even aware that the teacher was not there. The learners are let onto a field across the road for break time (again, no division between age groups). My son would tell me that there were no teachers there on duty. I took my son out at the end of March, but had already paid for April. I asked for a refund of April’s school fees. I was emailed back and told that I needed to give them 3 months notice, so not only would I not get a refund, but I owe them another 2 months fees on top of that.
