Sunglass Hut Eastrand Mall
My slippery slope to terrible business practices started on Saturday 26 August 2023 when I purchased a pair of Prada women sunglasses for my wife as a birthday gift. On Sunday morning we realised the frame is not 100% and not straight.
We returned the sunglasses to Woolworths Sunglass Hut Eastrand Mall where we purchased them.
The service was good and the gentleman was very helpful.
He agreed that the frame was not straight and has to call the Main Branch in Eastrand Mall to see if they have another pair.
It turned out they did and swopped it for us. On my way back to my car I realised I left the slip at the Woolworths branch. At my arrival the gentleman talked me into the sale of 50% of on another pair of mens Prada sunglass.
So I purchased the (so called new pair) and he cleaned the glasses with a cloth and said I must look at them for issues.
I was in a big rush so I did not look at them intensely.
The Monday (next day) I wore them the first time to work in the car and the afternoon again back to home as they were left in my car.
I then realised that afternoon on the inside of the right side lens there is a hair line scratch and was very disappointed as this is the second pair of (so called new) Prada Men sunglasses which is not cheap.
I decided to return them to the Eastrand Mall main branch.
Komotso was the agent on shift that day and looked at the scratch and if I have signed the slip.
Yes, I have signed the slip and that is all that is pointed to everytime I am trying to tell her it was should have been there before and they swopped my wifes faulty pair also with my signature on the slip.
What exactly is the difference? Her glasses was faulty and mine was scratched on the inside lens.
They refuse tho exchange them because of my signature.
So I tried the Woolworths branch where I bought them and the lady was willing to change them even opening the draw to look for another pair and noticed they don’t have an extra same pair.
Until she phoned Komotso at the main branch and was told, No! You cannot change them.
The best part is when I asked Komotso; so what are you going to do with my wifes faulty pair?
She says they will bend it straight again and sell it.
She said this to justify her explanation on why she can’t take mine back (because she cannot sell it with a scratch) but they will sell the faulty female Prada pair again as new. (It is not new)
And when you buy them and you might have new issues with the same pair they will look for your signature on the slip and tell you No! We cannot exchange them we can only repair them for you (ON YOUR OWN COSTS) or (WE CAN TAKE THE FAULTY PAIR AND CHARGE YOU 50%) for another new pair (is it really new?)
I would not recommend you ever buy sunglasses from Sunglass Hut.
They are selling second hand sunglasses at the price of new. And they don’t even hold the glasses properly.
Komotso literally held my scratched sunglasses with no respect and may have caused another unwanted scratch.
What a terrible experience.
This was my 3rd pair from Sunglass Hut and definitely my last.
PLEASE DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY AT THIS COMPANY.
