I checked in, asked if I can use the bar (full of loose tables and empty at the time) to have a meeting with a colleague) and were told that no venue can be used without prior notice and payment for such venue. I have asked if I can sit in the restaurant area (obviously we will order food and cooldrinks). Yes, that is ok. Today I ordered food (Steak-roll) which is described as sirloin strips on a roll - I asked for peri-peri sauce on the side, got a huge steak on the roll, no strips as described, send it back and again asked the waiter Sesi to remember about the peri sauce and specifically on the side as it might be too hot to eat if served on top.

Got my strips back - drenched with peri-sauce, chips cold. I again send the food back and went to the restaurant manager and explain nicely that in the food industry you never serve food topped with a sauce except when it's described in the Menu.

I have asked the waiter for "balsamic vinegar" and got normal "white vinegar" - Now I am really upset as I am the only person in the restaurant ordering food. I could understand if the place was packed.

Now I speak to the Head Chef, explained all and he understands fully as I am chefs for big hotels and have had restaurants too for 25 years.

I thought maybe the hotel owner will be glad to receive positive criticism from me - so that he have the opportunity to fix the problems. That is what I would have expected from an unhappy customer - not just bad comments on a website without even knowing about the problems. Oh my goodness, bad attitude from apparently owners son, Riaan Coetzer - immediately on his back feet, accepting the place is falling apart and that I have to put all in writing - but with an attitude. Charging customers for 3 star services and facilities that are worth less than a star at R730 p/night - substandard accommodation - rather go to Shongweni lodge - with full DSTV and with stunning food for R350 pnight.
