Sunbeam SCH-01 Heater

Purchased a Sunbeam heater (model: SCH-01) today from Game. Came home, fitted on feet as per instructions, connected to mains, switch heater on adjusted to maximum setting. Heater only works for about 3 minutes every time and shuts off. Instructions booklet says the unit will cut off when the room temperature reaches the thermostat setting. It is currently 6 degrees now, how is it possible for the thermostat on maximum setting to be equivalent to the room temperature for this unit to shut off??? Absolute waste of time, would not recommend this product to anyone.
