Very Disappointed

I have been a patient of Dr Roya Shams for several years, so I was surprised to hear that there’s no record of me or my last consultation. My last visit with her was in 2017, but my daughter and possibly my husband have been there more recently, within the past year. Were you unable to find my details in our family file? That's quite shocking! However, my review is specifically about my son’s recent visit. I had scheduled the appointment with Dr. Roya Shams online, as I had been pleased with her service in the past. When I arrived, I was surprised and somewhat disappointed to find another doctor assigned to us. Why does your website allow bookings with a specific doctor if another doctor might be assigned to the consultation? I brought him in a few weeks ago because his toe was blue and swollen. The doctor was unsure of the cause and took a photo of his foot. I asked her to check his blood circulation and to draw blood to test his sugar levels. Thankfully, those results were normal. She also touched his toes and asked if he felt any pain. Although the pain wasn’t severe, she suggested that he might have a fracture and recommended an X-ray to rule out any possible injury, bearing in mind this would incur unnecessary additional costs. To me a fracture seemed unlikely, as he isn’t active enough to sustain such an injury, and if it were a fracture, wouldn't he be in significant pain and unable to walk? In the end, she couldn’t provide a diagnosis, so we left feeling like the visit was a total waste of time and money. I’ve never had an experience before where a doctor couldn’t offer a diagnosis, and it left me feeling helpless, as I couldn’t help my child. We then took him to another reputable doctor in Midrand, who examined him and immediately diagnosed it as a rash that had led to an infection. He prescribed antibiotics and ointments, which have helped. It is very unlikely that we would choose Sanridge Medical Centre as our healthcare provider again.
