Valley Of The Waves - What a Shocker!!!

1st time in 20 odd years that I have been back to the establishment. Wow, what a SUPER disappointing experience.

We were one of the 1st people to enter the park, as we wanted to get a nice place to set up camp for the day. At about 9:20am'ish, we made our 1st stop the wave pool. To say the leaste, it was DISGUSTINGLY dirty. Every time the waves would come, one would need to dodge plastic bottles, papers and other debris. 10min. into our swim, I found sanitary pad casually floating by me and my daughter!! Then to add insult to injury, I had to explain to my 7year old what it was!! Empty cans were lying on the stairs to some of the rides and empty sweet papers shoved into the "cracks" of the wall. Best part was this was at 9:30'ish am, just after opening of the resort, thus it was probably all still from the day before.

They ran out of some drinks by about 13H00, no ice as well. In one of the hottest days we've had the list Summer, semi-chilled drinks were available to be purchased (as you are not allowed to bring your own), at RIDICULOUSLY inflated prices. The Slushy vendors sold water and syrup, nothing was cold about these drinks. One would assume that Sun International, should know by now that during a heatwave, extra arrangements would need to be made.

Then the rides. It took super long in between the rides, although the resort was not busy by then. Many of the life guards showed very little to no interest in any of the guests, and whether they had to stand in the cue in the blazing sun, for extended periods of time or not. Sure there are safety factors to consider, but 45sec intervals between riders?!? We paid close onto a R1000.00 excluding traveling, just to gain access into the resort and the Vallley Of The Waves, and yet I only managed to do 6 rides for the day!! (9am - 4pm)

A ride down the Lazy River, braught me close to losing my breakfast. Under each bridge, crossing the river, there are heaps of gum and **** stuck to the bottom of the bridges. It is quite obvious that this has not been cleaned in months. Then a little bit further down the river, staff were cleaning out, what smelt like a sewer, it was appalling, to say the least.

The park was not exceptionally busy, but one would assume that an establishment which has been around for over 25years and which have had 1000's of international guests, would know by know how to do things properly.

I will not be returning to Sun City any time soon.
