Unhappy MVG Palace guest.
We booked at the Cascades and upon arrival were pleasantly surprised when we realised we got upgraded to The Palace. I was excited for the experience as I’ve never stayed at The Palace which is supposedly the “best” accommodation at Sun City.
The room is so stuffy, the bathroom smells of fungus and actually has fungus in the basin. The drain doesn’t drain is not fully functional and the carpet smells off.
We forgot our masks in the car and the Valet service parked them in the ba*****t already. When we politely asked the porters to assist us with masks to go to the Cascades for breakfast, we were told that we have to go all the way to the Vacation Club to The Pantry to buy masks. This type of service I did not expect from “The Palace”.
We had to go all the way to The Cascades for breakfast as we were not told about the service price difference in breakfast. I phoned reception for assistance and was told the manager is occupied and will return my call shortly. 2 hrs later after waiting at the room I went to the Palace pool and called back management using my mobile cellphone. I spoke to a very friendly manager Francois who tried to assist me by moving us to a recently renovated room. The room was beautiful and everything was in working condition but being a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children, 1 adult sharing a bed with a toddler each we were told unfortunately we cannot be moved to a cleaner room with 2 beds and we can move back to the Cascades a porter will get our luggage in 30 mins.
I have had better experiences at the Cabanas, Cascades, Soho and Vacation Club.
I am very grateful for the upgrade but a very unhappy camper and won’t be back here anytime soon. I get the feeling MVG upgraded guests are treated differently in a negative way because we should feel “grateful” for the upgrade.
