Unprofessionalism, assault and threatening at Summit!
NEVER in my life have I dealt with such unprofessional and unacceptable behavior from managers and staff and Summit Grill and Skybar Menlyn. Me and my friend were on our way to Summit to attend a birthday. As we entered Summit without our masks, we were reminded that we should wear masks (not mentioning the staff at the bar and the kitchen not even wear masks, as well as other clients entering Summit). The one waiter immediately stopped me and had his eye specifically on me, and wanted to search my bag, which I allowed him to do so, even though there was nothing in there which aren’t allowed other than my personal belongings. I stopped and quickly looked in my bag for a mask and found one soon after. Unfortunately my friend didn’t have a mask, but another group of people approached us and handed her a mask. As it’s understandable that the staff are just doing their job ensuring people are wearing masks. I sincerely apologized to the waiter, where he refused to accept my apology and didn’t give me ONE chance to explain myself, he kept on taking over me so that I couldn’t get a word out. The whole situation got completely out of hand in a matter of minutes, and they told us we should wait outside as we aren’t welcome at Summit. They couldn’t give us a reason why we aren’t welcome except for their racially motivated agenda which they labeled us with the terms “disrespectful, arrogant and rude”. We refused to leave until we know exactly on which grounds we aren’t allowed into summit, hence we’ve been wearing masks for the duration of the argument. I couldn’t believe myself when the one waiter started pushing me away from the door (which is physically assault) and the other waiter came and grabbed my friend on her hands dragging her away from the entrance. The most bizarre part is that the waiter started threatening me!!!! He pointed his fingers in my face and told me that I should get away from here otherwise he’ll make me. Long after they still didn’t give us a valid reason for why we aren’t allowed, we went back to the car and just sit back, thought about the situasion and took a deep breath. Shortly after we went back again, to try to resolve the don’t know what “problem” and apologized once again! They were still super unprofessional and unaccomadating about the whole situation. The point of my story is that I think businesses like that should instead close their doors, because they don’t know how to do business and resolve conflict, instead it feels to me as a potential customer that we, as caucasion people, we’re targeted from the black staff working there, which just ASSUMED we are “disrespectful, arrogant and rude” because we made a normal human error and didn’t wear masks upon entry! I feel like none of those staff deserve their position as waiter(s), manager(s) and neither their customer’s money. This has to be brought under the owners attention!
