Sumimoto's declared unsafe

Good day. I would like to warn anyone to not make the same mistake as I did. Not sure if it it's with all the Sumimoto Tyres. I bought myself a brand new set of tyres in October 2019 was a brand new set of 195/50/R15 Sumimoto HTR V5 at a local dealer near me, first impression was really great value for mony tyres, Low road noise, good fuel economy that is until high-speed highway driving, it's terrible, loads of vibration from the tyres. Thats not my only problem, I also have almost no grip in wet or dry, handeling of tyres are really scary and unsafe. Dry conditions emergency stop, well my cars safty futures like abs and esc works overtime trying to figure out how to get the car stopped in time , and takes much longer to come to a complete stop and no there is nothing wrong with my car it gets it's annual yearly service done by Toyota it self. Never the less you can think how bad it is for the car to come to a stop in the dry so you can just imagine how it's a struggle for my car and my self in the wet rainy conditions, while I'm on this topic of my car in the wet, no acuaplaining at all but try to go around a corner not even in high speed or sharp turns it's a struggle keep the car straight, it's all over the place from oversteering like a drift pro to understeering like slaaming on breaks in a 1980's vehicle whil turning on a wet road when breaks locks up and keeps on moving straight forward and this is from a small front wheel drive light passanger hatchback. Defiantly these tyres are old technology thats why its so affordable, and thats why the safty of it is not there, no Silica compound found in them explaining the almost no grip effect you find on wet conditions, and sidewalls no strengthening done for beter cornering.

I almost forgot to mention my car has a really stiff suspension set-up and low to the ground for exelant handeling as its a small little sports car and was previously fitted with Continental contact 2 performance Tyres wich was the best tyre out there with out a doubt, a little road noice thats basically it. But anyway back to Sumitomo. The tyer sidwall are super soft and that makes the car cornering really bad it's like the car has so much bodyroll with the tyres like I never had with my previous tyres and it's definitely like you trying to corner on a pair of Marshmallows for tyres.

This tyers are unsafe for anyone even for a experienced driver like me, I don't even want to imagine if it's a lady driver with chirldren in the car or a learner driver. Worst tyres I've come across in my life, and I have tested cheaper brands of tyres with much heavier cars and the still preformed pretty good by safty standards.

I recently replaced the Sumimotos with brand new Continental as I had on previously and what a relief it is , no more struggling with traction or handeling at all safe in wet and dry conditions and cornering is a dream bodyoll a thing of the past .

Trust me if you are on a budget rather buy, good quality tyres for double the price for your own safty and your passangers, even if its two tyres one month and the other two the next month. And fiit the first two at the back and the next two the other mounth in the front for more even wear to tyre treds. Hope anyone reading this finds it helpful
