Subaru: where is the full size spare wheel?

I would like to share a gripe that I have with Subaru: I simply fail to understand why they continue to build and sell all wheel drive vehicles, that is notorious for its off road capabilities, equipped without a normal size spare wheel! I own a Subaru XV, after I traded in my Outback-amazing vehicles with every technological gadget that makes driving it a pleasure. The reason I bought it, is because we spend as much time as possible on back and gravel roads in our beautiful country. However, when we got our first flat in the Tankwa Karoo and I had to fit the "Marie Biscuit" spare wheel, I really started doubting my choice. The response I got from Subaru SA about this seemingly anomaly (they market these cars as adventure vehicles), was half baked. The other problem is that a normal size tyre, which I bought, doesn't fit in the space provided for the spare wheel. The only solution, was a Front runner roof rack with a full size tyre on the roof, which pushes up fuel consumption and increases wind noise. Please Subaru, wake up!!
