3.5 WEEKS TO BUY A CAR - LIKE WHAT!

This is for Subaru Cape Town:

On 6 June, we flew down to CT to view and test drive a Subaru Legacy GT. We where collected at the airport (we where told, should we take the car, our fligths will be paid for, which it was) . We loved the car, and bought it on the spot (CASH - paid for). We got the best service from Subaru CT and kind of expected THAT to continue.... It was good, right up until we left CT.

In the discussion with the salesman on the day, we where told there was a noise in the Turbo, which they will fix, either with parts or new turbo, and where told that all sorts of things will be done, like the steering wheel recon, with the mags with new tires. Mags where done with the new tires where fitted.

On 6 June, we were told it would be ok to collect the car, just s few days short of two weeks from that day. That takes us to 17 June. The week before, we emailed and asked if everything was on track for collection the following week, as we would like to book our flight tickets, we where told yes, everything is good.

On Wednesday 15 June, around 4pm, I spoke to the salesman, to find out if all is good for friday, we where assured, yes it was. My husband and a friend flew down, to collect the car. Just for them to be told, that the car wasn't ready. They would have to wait another 3 hours. Three hours came and gone, when they where told, that they have't recieved the turbo yet (parts weren't available), the replacement Turbo is in JHB. Surely they knew this on Wednesday, when I spoke to the salesman. My husband had to use a courtesy vehicle to drive back up to JHB. Not once, in ANY email or ANY conversation where we told, that the car wasn't complete or might not be complete. I was up in JHB, almost spitting fire I was so mad. That night, I tweeted SubaruSA, in which they rep**** and said I must email my complaint to them, to see to it on the monday (20 June).

On monday, SubaruSA, was going to address the matter with Subary Cape Town. That was the last email we recieved from them too.... No communication untill WE phoned them.

Last week friday, 24 June, we were told, that the car was taken to the Depot for transport to Johannesburg, (Steering wheel still needs to be reconditioned). The truck left for Johannesburg on monday (we have been told, I battle to believe everything we are told by Subaru). Today I got a call, from SubaruSA, it would take 4 - 7 Working days for the truck to reach JHB, as "it needs to be full before transport", and should reach JHB friday, maybe monday. That is another week. It will also take an additional 3 days, to recon the steering wheel. By the time we get the car, it would be more that 4 weeks since the purchase of the car.

A few points:

1. It is a second hand vehicle (granted, with recons and other repairs), it shouldn't take this long.

2. Car was paid for on the day - surely you would move to complete the sale..... But NO!

3. NOT ONCE WHERE WE TOLD ANYTHING on the repairs.

4. WE DID ALL THE PHONING AND EMAILING.

We love Subaru as a brand, but the service (at certain dealers & SA lacks and really doesn't represent the brand for what it is. ) We own a Subaru, the Legacy is our fourth Subaru.

C'mon Subaru, restore our faith in the brand.
