my mising alteration

I took a leather jacket to the alterations person inside of Stuttafords in Canal Walk. When he left he took it with him! I have spoken to one of the managers, Elri on numrrous ocassions, who keeps saying that the alterations guy was outsourced, and therefore there is nothing they can do about him taking my leather jacket with him. My theory is, that since I took my alteration to Stuttafords, they should take responsibility for it. How is the consumer to know that the guy was outsourced. Now I am minus a leather jacket and still waiting for Ellri or the regional manager to contact me. Is this the sort of customer service that Stuttafords gives their customers? Who is going to take resoonsibility for my loss?
