*********** sales people and unhelpful management
On 1 Feb 2022 I bought Puma tekkies from Studio 88 in Riversdale. I specifically asked for running shoes made for a running distance of more than 10km. I was shown Puma . I tried it on and it felt a bit hard and tight across the bridge of my feet. I repeatedly asked if it was made for running 10km +, as I am a runner and the wrong shoes can do harm the sales person kept on confirming that it was for 10km +. He also said i should not worry about the tightness across my feet as the material will still stretch. I bought the shoes, went for a run and got my feet badly damaged. My toes were so bruised it went blue and I had blisters . My one big toe toenail went totally blue and i almost lost the nail. i had to cancel my upcoming runs. I googled the shoe on the Puma website and it was not even listed as a running shoe but as a trainer. I live in a town 40km away from Riversdale, so I phoned them . I spoke to Anele the manager. I explained that I had a run with the shoes and that it damaged my feet because I was sold the wrong shoes. He said to bring it back. i went to Riversdale and I got no help at all. Anele and another guy kept on telling me that I already used the shoes. I said that I did mention that on the phone, I had to take off work and it is an 80km return trip for me, because he said that I must come in to the store. They just looked at me and kept on repeating that I had used the shoes. The more I tried to explain the above, the more they ignored what I was trying to say. I got angry and asked to speak to someone higher up. Anele wrote a number down for me and said I must phone them. I said That I will not drive all the way back to phone! Why didnt he said that in the first place and spared me a 80km trip.? So I asked him to phone. I then spoke to Rene in JHB. I was very angry because she just told me to lodge a complaint. She , as with Anele, never once apologised for my time wasted and the distance I had to drive for nothing. There was no understanding or compassion. I was angry and I did swore, but not at her.. She then accused me of verbal abuse and aggressiveness. I asked to speak to someone more senior. She threw the phone down and I could hear her swear at me before the call was put through to Jason Erwin. it was much of the same. It came down to the fact that he was not prepared to lose money on the product by changing it or refunding me. He said it was not his staff's work to help me with buying the correct shoes, and that I as a runner should know what shoes to buy. I told him he was talking s.... how can I know every shoe on the market? Every other shop that sold running shoes that I have been to in my running career was able to assist me. He said i must not compare them to other shops. The salesperson at Studio 88 should then have said to me he does not know, but he specifically said that the shoes was 10km+ running. Jason (he said I may mention his name) then accused me of verbal abuse. I said to him that I will take the matter further and that I will make sure that the Running community and also my colleagues in my professional field of work will know about the ********** way this matter has been handled. He then accused me of ******. I still dont know why. He said I must make sure that people know the conversation has been recorded......so I am making sure, and I invite anyone to listen to it. I also have photos of my damaged toes. I know sit with a R900 pair of shoes that I cannot use. No one wants to buy it from me as there are also rumours that Studio 88 are selling contraband
