Exchange policy

I bought pair of sneakers that was on promotion yesterday and I asked if I could bring them back if they don't fit and they said yes, so i went again in today to exchange then there was no size and apparently they can't refund, I have to take something of the value of the money or I keep the sneakers, how, what kind of terms and conditions are these, am never going to buy there ever
