School wanting me to pay legal costs

Actually this is not a review but a question. My son is a learner a Strubenvale Primary School. There were fees I owed the school (2019). And I was handed over. I paid up the school. Im I liable to pay the lawyers even though I paid up the school. Please tell me what are my rights as a parent. Not as a consumer. Remember the school is not a business entity.
