Worst Veterinary Clinic Ever!!! All About The Money!!!!

I have had the absolute worst experience at Strubens valley veterinary clinic. I sent my cat in on the Monday as he was in a cat fight over the weekend and seemed to be in a lot of pain. One of the vets checked him out and reported nothing wrong with him but gave an injection for anti-inflammatory / antibiotic, as well as prescribed him pain meds. Which cost us R800.00. Once we took him home, it was just a matter of hours when we noticed he had taken a turn for the worse. This cat previously was always taken care of by Dr Grant Fuller and usually one visit to him and he was back out into the garden with no complaints and a very quick recovery. (he has been in many cat fights before) So the next day we were back at the vet, as we were now extremely concerned over our cats well being. Before even checking our cat and helping him be more comfortable, we were slapped with a estimated quotation of R2500 min, which we thought necessary due to the state of our cat. All of a sudden there was talk about his kidneys and liver, which we found odd, as he was an extremely healthy and young cat. Before they even attended to our cat we were asked to pay R1500.00 deposit and given documents stating that if our cat died in their treatment, they would not be held liable. (Very comforting)

With little report on how our cat was doing or even what was wrong with him, we insisted on a visitation, as they decided they want to keep him for another night. (We should have brought him home!!! MAJOR REGRET) Shortly after visiting our cat, our spirits were high and we could not wait to finally bring him home the next day! The following morning we received a call no pet owner wants to ever receive. We were told that our cat had been bringing up blood and died in the early hours of the morning. Absolutely devastated, we ran over the details and uneasy feeling of why this had happened to our very healthy, young cat! We never had any issues with him. We asked for an autopsy and discovered that our cat had died of liver and kidney failure, aged 7 years old. Fit and extremely healthy!!! Still in absolute shock, we are battling to come to terms that our cat is gone. We asked for him to be cremated, and received news that they cremated him with his collar and tag on!!!!!!!!! (The only items we had left of him) These people have no heart for animals or their owners. We have been slapped with yet another bill of R3500.00 and our cat is dead! The receptionist is rude and know's absolutely nothing of whats happening within the vet. The owner is a money grabber who couldn't care about the animals or their well-being. I do not believe that they know what they are doing or what they are prescribing your animal! Its very concerning going from a complete healthy cat, who was in pain due to lacerations on his body to kidney and liver failure 2 days later! They definitely are a money first, animal second basis! I will never again take my pets near strubens valley veterinary clinic! I will spread the word, that this is no longer the vet we once loved and trusted!!! We cant help thinking that if we went elsewhere, we would still have our boy!
