Refused Exchange

I hereby write to you with regards to the purchase of a pair of Puma Sandals at Street Fever Greenacres opposite Mr Price in Port Elizabeth.

The item was purchased on 18/12/2017. After being worn twice by my daughter (who is nine years old), the shoes are now damaged and not suitable for wearing. After visiting the store to either exchange or the item, my request was refused. I was told that I need the box to do an exchange, even though having my receipt of purchase. The manner in how I was dealt with was appalling and very unprofessional. On the day of purchasing the sandals not one of the two assistants advised me that I should be keeping the box for exchange purposes. I find this revoking my rights as a consumer as the CPA reads:

Imp**** warranty of quality

In terms of s56 (read with s55) of the CPA, goods sold to a consumer are sold with an imp**** warranty of quality, that cannot be revoked. The warranty gives the consumer the right to receive goods that: - Are reasonably suitable for the purpose they are intended to be used for, - Are of good quality, free of defects and in good working order, and - Will be durable and usable for a reasonable period of time.

Could you please advise what can be done with above situation?
