No response after complaint about increased fees for elderly gap cover
I lodged a complaint, via email to Stratum, it has been completely ignored.
I was sold a gap cover policy for my elderly parents. I specifically looked for a policy that will accommodate my 84 year old father. The policy I signed up for accepted his age and it was an affordable policy at the time. A year later the policy price has been dramatically increased using his age as the basis for the price increase. I find this unacceptable, as we specifically checked for a policy that accepted his age and that was affordable. I feel that it is exceptionally ********* to sell a policy knowing all the facts and then to raise the pricing based on their age. It puts patients at risk by not having proper cover as they will be forced to change providers and then have waiting periods apply.
If pricing was incorrect at the time of the policy sale, existing holders of the policy should not be penalised and instead this should be rectified for new customers signing up to the policy.
As a customer I feel that this may have been Stratum's game plan all along - get people to sign up for the policy and then increase pricing a year after, using the very facts we checked with them in the first place.
