When I took out my policy with Stratum I was told that all my medical expenses will be covered as Stratum was one of the best GAP insurances companies. What a shock when I wanted to claim the hospital costs for my wife's shoulder operation which left me with a hospital account of R93 000. Luckily the hospital was willing t let me pay this amount in 4 instalments. When I query the account that Stratum did not pay, I was thrown with a list of all the exclusions of the fund. Something I was not advised upfront. I thought I was the only person that was in this position but if you check face book you will find more unhappy customers. Do go check and see how many people think GAP is a rip-off and a waste of money. Seems that the agents selling the policies does not explain the full story to the customers and deliberately withhold certain critically info. I call this a misinformed transaction which could also be seen as a contract drawn on the basis of fallacy. I blame the agents that are in the field and only want to make money and do not care about their customers.
