I signed up for the Stratum Gap Cover on 1 Nov 2016 for me and my wife both on Pension at a cost of R320 per month (my wife being on government pension). In October 2017 they informed me that the monthly cost is going up by 80% to R575, even though we haven't claimed but due to, I quote "we experienced an higher than average claims ratio on the product range, specifically amongst clients 65 and older". Of co**** on a very small pension we could not afford this an immediately downgraded to the lowest package option of R350 p/m. They acknowledged this and sent me the new policy documents. Sooo on the 1st of December they deduct R670 from my account this adds up to both premiums (350+320)!!!! was this any other month I might not have made an issue but as a pensioner over Christmas this has put me in a very bad financial position. They have no regard for people's money or "making administrative mistakes", what is small to them is a mountain to someone like me.
