Cancer Cover Not Paying as per Policy

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and they had to do a mastectomy on her. After they have done the mastectomy they had to do breast reconstruction. The plastic surgeon explained how the reconstruction needs to be done in several stages before the reconstruction process can be completed. The medical aid paid their part for all these operations from the approved plan for cancer treatment, but Stratum Benefits refused after the first operation. They claim it must be done in one operation, which is impossible. Their policy clearly states they will pay the shortfall of the difference between your healthcare provider and the amount your medical aid pays. I refused to accept their rejection for my claim and their reason and approached the small claims court regarding this matter. My case (Sc 283/21) was heard before the Commissioner of the small claims court and he agreed that they should pay as per their policy. Even after I won the case and they were ordered to pay the claim, they still refused to pay and I had to transfer the matter to the civil court. The sheriff then went out to their offices in Durbanville to make a list of items to sell on a auction to recover the amount outstanding. They only paid after this action took place. During the court case and with all the hassles I had with them, my wife had to go for another operation. Needless to say, they rejected this claim again and I have started the process all over again. I will not advise anyone to join them for GAP COVER. They don't cover as per their policy.
