My other and I were looking for a temporary property to rent whilst finishing out renovations on our home.

We found a property close to our house.

We met the landlord Clint and upon seeing it and agreeing to the terms we promised to make the deposit secure the property on the the 8th of May.

We kept to our end of the deal and made the payment as promised. After paying the deposit we went back to the house and then Clint changed the terms of the initial agreement. Him and his father were no longer moving out and we were expected to share the property with them. We’ve tried various avenues to try and get back our money to avail. They are ******** and ********** and prey on vulnerable woman. My mom recently last her younger brother and mom and asked Clint for her deposit back in order to give them a dignified funeral and he just ignored her. The emotional stress and stress she has been under the past few months is unbearable. Whatever you do, do not enter into an agreement with a gentleman named Clint who purports to own a property on Conduit Street in Johannesburg North. He’s a *********. We’ve resorted to reporting him to the Gauteng Housing Tribunal and launching a claim with the small claims court. We are awaiting arbitration and hopefully this matter will be put to rest and my mother will get her money back.
