Theft and bad experience stor-age Garsfontein

I was offered via phone-call from Cape-town a storage unit at Stor-age Garsfontein. I had to move my mother's belongings in a short period of time and was told this facility was the only one available..should have known better . I only needed it for a month so I signed the contract for a month..I was also told about there wonderful security system..blah blah blah...I went to the facility anout once week to check on the unit. After about 11 days of not going there I received an email stated my unit was not properly locked..wow -so they have such good security and only after 11 day's suddenly can realise my unit wasn't secure??? When I investigated-all seemed fine..only to realise a few days later when we moved , that many boxes were taken with the flatscreen and all the original paintings - all to value of about R100 000.00. Now- after a police case were opened and their findings of internal theft, stor-age management passes the bucket and although many promises were made in their contract and on internet, they do not entertain our claim. DO NOT USE ANY OF StOR-AGE franchise units-they are not honest in their promises and do not have good security. Surely-if the security was what they said it was ,they could have established the inproper lock of my storage sooner and secured it for me for time being if it was the case. Allthough I know I have locked it properly. They allowed somebody to snoop around and take your belongings Iin broad daylight-it was as if they knew excactly what they wanted..all the antiques and worthy stuff...

I am not satisfied at all and will take legal action if they continue blaming me for the allegedly incorrect lock of my unit. They agreed that there are from time to time irregularities- surely, stor-age must entertain their standards an morals and at least meet us with an offer. We trusted them with our goods and with the security system that was offered to me. Which ended up being ****...

Hi Letitia

Our sincerest apologies. As per our General manager of Operations letter to you, we are doing everything we can to rectify this. All of our staff are going through polygraph tests and we are checking all CCTV footage. We do pride ourselves on having great security and this is a very rare occasion that something like this has happened. We will keep you updated on our findings and make sure we do everything we can to help you. Once again our deepest apologies.

Thank you but the letter to me stated 'sorry'..will not pay anything .. we have requested all cctv footage..there is no CCTV as was promised. It seems to us that the people who stole my goods came in midday and helped themselves with all they wanted. It took storage 11 day's to report a possible unsafe locking of the unit..Very good security

Hi Letitia

We are still busy with the investigation. We only have our customers in our best interest, and we promise we will do everything we can to help you. There are cameras in our Garsfontein branch but we have been having problems with the connections - this is currently being sorted out.

Thanks
