Forced to vacate from Stor-age
So the Durbanville branch of Stor-age decided to terminate my lease. Understandable, considering that I did breach the contract. Ironically and evidentially, self-storage does not imply that you can store yourself.
I don't have a problem with their decision. I just have an issue with how I was treated and how it was handled. Granted, I did put the company under great risk. But to be told I need to vacate in 48 hours but I'll only receive my a portion of my money back after the company contacts the bank on Friday (5-days away).
So a company that utilizes high-end technology for security that can track which customers come in and go out cannot contact the bank in a matter of minutes and confirm that a payment was made. No; a lot of cruelty is hidden behind the guise of legalize and bureaucracy. So I'm told to vacate in 48-hours. It doesn't matter if I paid on time and sent proof of payment. So what they've told me is "good luck on financing your removal and next rental. Oh, and we'll pay you back your money when we feel like it and how ever much we feel like"
Again, I'm in the wrong. However, I do note deserve to be gaslighted and dehumanized - treated with the same disdain that people reserve for the homeless.
Other than that, despite this, Stor-age is a great modern self storage facility. I may even recommend them in the future. However, their representatives are still ableist assholes.
