Disrespectful treatment of loyal clients.
I'd like to escalate my complaint on this platform regarding Stor-Age's treatment of long-term loyal customers, which seems to be less favourable compared to another client's experience shared in a similar thread. (I recommend reading her thread for context.) I've been renting a covered parking space for my caravan at the Pine Hurst facility since 2018, and while I acknowledge its quality, I was taken aback by the unfairness of the rate increases. This became apparent when I compared my rate with that of a friend whom I referred to the same facility. Despite us having identical covered caravan parking, his monthly rate stands at R 1350 while mine is R 1685. Upon inquiry, the area manager responded with the following explanation: "Our contracts operate on a month-to-month basis, and our pricing is flexible, determined by a variety of factors. Among these factors is the supply and demand for specific unit sizes at particular locations. For instance, our Pinehurst store is currently over 92% occupied, with parking bays at 90% capacity, influencing our pricing strategy accordingly. Our pricing structure and strategy is dynamic, meaning we adjust rates not only annually but also in response to changing circumstances, such as those mentioned." It's worth noting that Stor-Age appears to cover this under Clause 9 of their Terms & Conditions, albeit in a brief, unspecified manner. • Clause 9 does not cover any specifics to a possible yearly increase, my advice is to pin this down. • While I understand the need for adjustments in rates, I find it unjust that I don't benefit from a reduction despite positive factors, leading to my R 1685 fee compared to the R 1350 fee charged to my friend for the same facility on the same date. I urge caution when dealing with Stor-Age, as their practices may not always align with fair treatment of customers, particularly those who have been loyal over the long term.
