Poor staff training
Very disappointed in the lack of knowledge of the nursery staff at Kenilworth and Bergvliet branches, both in person and telephonically. It seems that they no longer employ proper nurserymen/women and just have smiling salespeople. Have tried for the last two weeks to get a coherent answer on availability of Mondo grass (Ophiopogon Japonicus) but almost without exception most of the staff I spoke to on the phone or in person were almost clueless as to what I wanted and had to refer repeatedly to others (who often didn't know either) to find out what I wanted.
The telephone answering is really bad with whoever answers the phone often unable to carry on a coherent conversation. Surely when you employ someone to answer your phone you teach them phone etiquette and make sure they can communicate in the language they serve most of their customers in ?- I think I speak reasonably clear English but often have to repeat what I am saying three times before they understand and I have to strain to understand to answer.
Stodels used to be legendary for their service but that is no longer the case - sadly gone the way of so many South African businesses that as a customer I feel like they're doing me a favour in helping me.
I have to say though that the staff at Bergvliet, as clueless as they may seem at times always greet me in person a very friendly manner - Stodels if you can instill that character trait in your staff , why not the whole package because right now it is a pain in the butt to do business with you.
