Steve's Auto Clinic Centurion - Poor Service!

On 27 July 2020 my son’s Land Rover Defender (2010 model) broke down and was taken by flatbed to Steve’s Auto Clinic (SAC) in Centurion. Upon investigation, SAC informed us that the prop shaft had broken. On 22 August, almost a month later, the car was ready for collection and the repair cost was R16 479.27. When we handed the car to my son (who was at work), he noticed that the car was smoking badly, the engine was not running smoothly and he detected and oil leak. We contacted SAC the following day and their response was that the problems were caused by the long time that the car was standing stationary at their workshop and that these problems will go away!!! On the following day we took the car back to SAC. After inspection, they informed us that the gearbox casing was cracked. They quoted R14 000 to fix this and the manager, Mynhardt, said that they do not do those type of repairs themselves but that the job will be subcontracted to one of their service providers. We, however, decided to take the car to a service provider of our own choice, i.e. Centurion Transmission & Service Centre (CT&SC). After inspection, CT&SC suggested that we return the car to SAC for them to fix the cracked gearbox casing. IT was their opinion that the crack was as a result of the broken driveshaft hitting the gearbox. Since part of SAC’s original invoice was covered by an extended warranty, we were of the opinion that it will be the correct thing to do, as the damage to the casing might be covered by the warranty claim, so we returned the car to SAC again. SAC informed us, however, that the claim was repudiated by the warranty providers. Needless to say, the relationship between us and Steve's Auto Clinic was strained by this time. On 24 August 202, we collected the car from SAC again and took it to CT&SC in order for them to fix the gearbox casing. CT&SC is extremely helpful and as dumb struck as we are as to what happened to that car while at SAC???
