Incompetence at its best

It has taken me nearly a year to calm down enough not to use foul language in this review. Last year November I took my VW Caravelle 2.5 TDI to Steve's Auto Clinic in Boksburg as I was experiencing some issues with it. I spoke to Alan Hulme, explained to him all the symptoms, of which there were many. I also explained to him my financial situation was such that I was going to have to take out a personal loan to pay for the repairs so I would need a comprehensive quote to repair all the issues with my vehicle. Alan sent me a quote a few days later as promised. I then telephoned him to confirm this was a quote to resolve/repair ALL the problems with my vehicle, he assured me that my vehicle would be in 100%/perfect condition once they had done the quoted repairs and remedial work. I thus accepted the quote and advised Alan that I was awaiting the outcome og the loan application & would give him the "Go Ahead" once the funds were availble, which I duly did a few days later. About a week later Alan telephoned to let me know my vehicle was ready for collection, I explained to him I was away on a business trip & would only be back on that Friday evening, ( which was at Month end), Alan insisted that his management needed payment by month end so I offered to go in on Saturday morning to pay for the work done & collect my vehicle, Alan went to great pains to make me understand that he was doing me a hell of a favour as they don't open on Saturdays. I arrived at the agreed time on the Saturday. I was not allowed to see my vehicle or test drive it until I had paid, no internet payment facilities were available at SAC Boksburg, so I had to run around to an FNB branch to do the transfer, which I duly did & sent Alan the POP. On driving my vehicle home I started experiencing exactly the same problems I had just paid R33,500.00 to have sorted within 3km's of SAC Boksburg, so I turned the vehicle around immediately and took it back to Alan at SAC Boksburg who was in the process of locking up. I told him to get it sorted properly and that there was no rush from my side. A few days later he phoned me and promised me it was in perfect running condition now and I could collect it, which I did. Within a few days all the old problems were back, as well as an oil leak I had been charged R3,500.00 to have repaired. Needless to say I had a few words with Alan telephonically as well as via e-mail only to be treated like I was being totally unreasonable at which point he then reffered me to his management and refused to deal with me anymore. I took my vehicle back and advised them that I wanted my vehicle repaired as per initail agreement and would need it by the 24th of December. after a few days i was advised that they had taken my vehicle to VW and that it was in perfect running condition. Needless to say I have done less than 2,000km in the year since then. My vehicle is still under powered and extremely heavy on fuel and is still ****ing oil all over my driveway ....... so I have literally thrown my money in the water. upon chatting to colleagues, friends and family members it turns out this is the norm with SAC Boksburg. My mate took his double Cab there and it was never the same again, it was heavier on fuel and completely gutless. we unfortunately had my wifes Audi TT serviced there as well and needed some electrical work done to the rear light, they sent it away to one of their trusted auto electrical sub contractors who charged an arm and a leg to repair the tail lights only to have them start malfunctioning again withtin 2 weeks. I investigated only to find a botch job of some considerable proportions, they had melted a whole through the assy with a soldering iron to connect power directly to the circuit board, I had to redo the entire job myself, which has lasted but we are eventually going to have to replace the damaged assy.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR WHEEL BARROW LET ALONE YOUR VEHICLE TO STEVE'S AUTO CLINIC BOKSBURG ....... YOU WILL BE UNHAPPY!!!

Reviewer Update

So Leon, (the boss at SAC East Rand), phones me in quite a huff wanting to know what my issues are. I explained to him I was in a meeting and requested that he call me back in 2 hours, around 13H00 then I would be able to discuss the issues with him. That was about 10 days ago, to date I have had no call back from him or anybody else from SAC. Just proving that once they've got your money they don't give a rat's **** about you. Fortunately I've managed to track down my old "back yard" mechanic, who moved away to be with his dying mother & has now come back to Gauteng after her passing. My wife took her Audi TT there for it's annual service & he pointed out to her that SAC had tightened some engine guard bolts that are suddenly gone now ....***??? This guy is such a back yard mechanic that when the local AUDI & VW dealerships in the area can't solve a problem on a customers car they send it to him. Guess where my Caravelle is going to be sorted, my guess is SAC don't give a toss & the likelyhood of them doing the rignt thing & reimbursing my money or part thereof or paying to have their **** ups sorted by a proper mechanic is absolutely f...ing ZERO.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GIVE SAC (in general) A VERY WIDE BERTH.

I am starting to hear a lot of very negative feedback from a lot of people.
