Entrapment

<p>I recently approached Steves Auto Clinic in Kyalami for a quote to replace the timing belt and water pump on my Jeep Cherokee. I gave the the service manager Frans a full understanding of the job and confirmed that he didn't mind if I supp**** the parts and requested he call me back later with a price. The price that they came back with, just over R3000 was virtually identical to another quote I had, but as SAC have a good reputation and they are very close to home, I confirmed a booking. Everything very efficient when I took the car but mid-morning they phoned me to advise that they had under-quoted the labour by 6 hours doubling the price of the job, no problem I said, I'll collect the car and take it elsewhere, "we've already stripped a lot off the engine" so my options were few, so they went ahead and did half the work for all the money. </p> <p>They were completely unrepentant and the branch manager was quite hostile when I collected the car, saying he "very rarely got it wrong" and despite having been in business for over 20 years and having access to the internet where the full scope of the work could be found, didn't offer any sort of apology whilst taking my money. Moral of the story, either get a written agreement from them that they have researched the job thoroughly and quoted accordingly, or don't use SAC Kyalami.</p>
