2 year guarantee worthless and decieving

I purchased a Ryobi high pressure machine at Makro Springfield Durban in December 2016.

The machine came with a 2 year guarantee and in June 2017, that's 6 months later, the machine stopped working.

I booked it in at Makro who then sent it to the manufacturer for evaluation. I was then told I need to pay R300 to repair it because the brushes had burnt out. The brushes apparently are a wear and tear item so it is not covered under the guarantee.

I was not happy but agreed to pay as I needed the machine to be fixed. Then in August the machine stopped working again, so I took it back to Makro, who sent it back for assessment.

The assessment this time said that I need to pay R1632.00 for the machine to be repaired. This by the way is more than what I paid for the machine.

Apparently the motor needed to be replaced because it had burnt out due to warn out brushes. Brushes that I had just paid them R300 to replace.

I have phone on numerous occasions to try to sort it out and failed. They eventually said that they could repair it at half the price, which around R800.

I actually would like to know what their guarantee covers, because it is totally misleading
