CORPORAL PUNISHMENT

Good Day

There Were Two Incidents that has Occurred at STERNGROVE PRIMARY SCHOOL With Regards To My Daughter,TEMERAH CHETTY In Grade 1.

The Teacher Responsible For This Is Mrs A D Singh.

When she came home from school on the 5th of September ,That evening we asked her how was her Life s****s paper?She was scared to answer us But upon asking her more questions she had told us the teacher in Question Had hit her and said that she Had copied from the child sitting behind her.

After questioning her she said:

On the 4th of September after completing the test paper ( AFRIKAANS PAPER) the child sitting behind her called and ask for her colour pencil and the teacher saw them talking and only called her (TEMERAH).The Techer said she was copyng and for her to stand and face the chalkboard until she says that word she was copying (The teacher never said anything or Questioned the other child)

On the 5th of September,The Day we found out about what happened in SCHOOL.She was writing her life s****s paper and the child sitting behind her tapped her on the shoulder and asked her what must she do because she had finished writing her paper.So (TEMERAH) said put your head on the desk and sleep.Once again the teacher without asking anything,immediately came up to her (TEMERAH) PINCHED her face,Also giving her two Slaps.The Teacher Once Again insisted that TEMERAH was copying.My child started crying,But the teacher told the rest of the class…”GOOD,LET HER CRY”

Being a Parent I went to the school on the 6th Of September and approached the Principal (MRS M GOVENDER).

I had told her what had happened and requested to speak to the teacher immediately But she refused and said she will investigate and I must come back to the school at 2:30 that afternoon.

When I went back at 2:30 Mrs Govender and (H.O.D) Mr R D Jaipal were Present and the person i went with was not allowed to be present in that meeting whilst the teacher in question was not Present.

The H.O.D said that my child was feeling the test very hard and that's why she copied?

So I asked to see the Test Paper,For them to Show Me that she Had copied.

Their response was that not all the answers were copied and refused to show me test papers in question.

Mrs M Govender Said that the Teacher was very Sorry For What Had Happened.I asked For A Written Appology,But was Told That it Was Not Possible To Be Done and I must Come Back the Following Monday.

I Advised The Principal and Mr Jaipal That I'm going to take this Matter Legal,As My Concerns

And Pleas were Falling on Deaf Ears…As what Always happens at this School.

The Principal Requested for me to give her my Lawyers Details,and in front of them I called my Lawyer,whom Told me not to Disclose Any Information to Them.

Thereafter I Proceeded to the Police Station and opened up a charge

To My Surprise, Mr Jaipal Visited My Home on Sunday Evening ( 8 September 2019 ).

He Was Pleading With Me To Drop the Charges,Stating That Mrs AD Singh will be Forced To Go On Early Retirement? – Could work Something Out …Not go Legal?

Since then The School Has been Harassing me with Phone calls and Begging Me to Withdraw the Charge.

Please I would Really Like To Know

The Behaviour Of The HOD & Principal State Otherwise.
