Inappropriate Guide/Host
I took my daughter to Sterkfontein Caves. We had the tour guide taking us and describing the different fossils on the short path to the cave entry. While at the entry, the guide starts discussing how they are in the business of death, please feel free to die. Any volunteers would be appreciated. He carried on about dying for a good two minutes. My daughter is 7 years old and listened carefully to every word he said. I cannot remember his name unfortunately. When it came time to enter the Cave, my daughter completely broke out into a panic. She was trembling with fear and just would not go in the caves. There was nothing I could do to reassure her as all she kept saying to me is that she is going to die in the cave. Needless to say, R424,00 down the drain as we had to leave. I am really unimpressed with the attitude. When asked for a refund I was dismissed. I don't think it is appropriate to discuss such manners. Know your audience, see there are children that can be effected by such things. Unfortunately I will now not be able to return or take my daughter to caves for at least a few years as she is convinced you die in caves. This is totally the opposite of what I was going for. We have been reading books on stalactites and stalagmites and I wanted to show her in person.
