Disinterested / Poor Service

Tired of second rate blenders that continually fail, I purchased what has to be one of the most expensive and premium blenders stocked by Stax (Smeg). On finalising the purchase, I admittedly did not retain the slip but, was assured that in the unlikely even the appliance required repairs under warranty (three years), it wouldn’t be that difficult to locate on the store’s system.

Unfortunately, fate would put the above to the test and, upon trekking out to the store in Dunkeld (I reside in Kyalami), I was met with a disinterested ‘there is nothing we can do without the slip’ story from Colin which the cynic in me was sadly expecting. After having to (sadly) get intolerant with Colin’s disinterested attitude, he begrudgingly accepted the blender on my assurance that I could locate the purchase on my appropriate credit card statement, probably dating back just shy of a year.

Today, I received a call from Ahmed from Stax, who again reiterated that there was nothing that could be done; tired of this substandard service, I contacted Smeg directly who confirmed that the serial number of the appliance / blender would confirm whether or not it was still under guarantee and, amazingly, volunteered that Stax should be able to locate my purchase on their system (as was initially confirmed at the time of purchase by the sales person) unprompted and couldn’t therefore understand what the problem was which they agreed was poor.

I have tried to contact the store manager Bruno on three separate occasions today and left messages but he too isn’t, or doesn’t, appear interested.

One less customer for Stax but faith somewhat restored with Smeg’s helpful attitude. To confirm, I was never looking for a replacement but merely assistance with the required repairs, this which was conveyed on numerous occasions.
