Interest on rental property deposits not paid by Statusmark and no recourse to Estate Agents Affairs Board either

I requested that Statusmark in Roodepoort refund the interest on my deposit when I vacated their property in 2007. They told me I had to wait five years as it was held in a trust account. The other day I asked to be refunded, only to be told that as I'd vacated the property more than three years ago. I protested whereupon I was told that I should contact the Estate Agents Affairs Board. Try emailing them! ALL the emails bounce, undeliverable. So wheres the justice here. Estate agents and their control board can simply take your money without ever having to be held liable to repay you. So what do they do with it?! Yes it's a small sum but if most people don't bother to claim the interest on their deposits, it adds up to large sums eventually.
