Won't pay claim after storm damages

After the storm that Durban experienced in October standard bank does not want to pay the claim that was caused by the damages. It's taken more than a month and half to get an assesor out and heavy rains after that storm has caused more damages. Now they are refusing to pay the claim that THEIR external assesor has approved.

Initially they said the contractor advised that they will only over the leaning wall and not the roof because the roof has metal valise and the valise had corrosion that is visible with holes and they cannot cover this. We advised them that there was no leakage prior to the storm , and the heavy storm would have worsened valise that caused leaking through the roof and water damage to the wooden roof beams and the internal wall, with water damage and the paint has started bubbling since. The heavy winds and rain, caused the tree to hit against the wall, and drop various top slabs, and 2 trees are leaning to the side, this should have been cut down and cleared.

Insurance is supposed to leave you in the same position you were before the storm not worse off. We are not asking standard bank to give us anything for nothing. They need to repair what has been damaged due to storm damage which we are covered for.

What's the point of paying these people for more than 10 years if they can't even insure you.

It's been 3 days with any update as per what is happening. Is there anybody there that actually cares about clients? Should no response be provided for by close of business tomorrow, I will be taking this matter further. This is not acceptable the way standard bank treats their clients
